The detail
Waterproof trail shoes fill with water from the top and then keep it. This one drains instead: the upper is an open mesh with a welded toe bumper, and there are ports at the base of the midsole so water leaves as fast as it enters. Underfoot there is a 0.9mm nylon rock plate in the forefoot only, so the shoe still flexes at the toe, and the lugs are 4mm on a soft compound at the edges for wet rock.
